Munson Pond - Demonstration at City Hall regarding road development
![]() |
| There were six of us at the demonstration on Tuesday (March 10, 2026) this week. |
I decided to park some distance away from City Hall, where we would be demonstrating the road development through Munson Pond Park. After all, it was important, and I understand there are about 6,000 signatures on the petition regarding the same thing. As I rounded the corner, I detected a large group of about 100 people carrying placards with a news reporter and video cameraman setting up. I thought to myself, "What a great turnout!"
As I got closer and the signs began revealing what was written on them, the name of Munson did not appear at all. The demonstration was about saving a golf course that was up for partitioning. There were 200 people there. I didn't know much about their cause, but where were those in support of my cause? It was a moment later when I found my group; four people huddled around a tree in the center of the golf course protest. These were my people!
We decided to move to an area not monopolized by the other demonstrators, and the five of us displayed our placards with a modicum of defiance. Another person, on a short break, joined us, granting us the sum of six. Now, half a dozen can be a lot. Six eggs make a huge omelette. Six cars is a lot for any one person to own. But six people for a demonstration is just enough to play a good game of cards.
I have to say that I was disappointed at the turnout. However, I am thankful for Anita Lawry, who took time to organize the event and speak afterward. I don't actually think she got a chance to speak though, as I heard the She also organized the petition and spoke on the local AM radio station. In the end, I doubt that there will be any stopping of the road development. I guess that God's creatures have no place in man's world.
Thanks for reading.
