Gordox MF-R76 - Part 2 - A sales mistake.

I should have known. Something was wrong, but what? I spent all of yesterday trying to problem-solve issues with the Godox ring flash to no avail. I consider myself handy at using photographic equipment and, even though I spent many hours adjusting camera and flash settings, I could not make the thing work properly. My exposures were still coming out very dark. Thankfully the raw files I shot them in allowed me to resurrect some of the images.
I am camping right now and I have limited access to my stuff at home, including the box and sales receipt my flash came in. I had no instruction manual and went online to obtain one. You would think it would be an easy process, but suffice it to say that I had no such luck. The closest I came to one was a Japanese manuscript that had all the right pictures but did not improve my understanding. To say that I was frustrated was an understatement - by several orders of magnitude.
I discovered something interesting in my research. My flash had a menu choice of ETTL but the information found said that Nikon was iTTL and Canon was ETTL. I then looked at the label on my Godox flash and it had a © symbol on it. Not copyright - Canon. It all made sense. The reason nothing was working properly was because they sold me the wrong flash.
When I ordered the unit, I made sure it was for Nikon. After receiving it, I noticed that the settings were very odd and so I reset the flash to its factory settings. I think that the flash must be a return and someone put it in the wrong box. Anyway, without knowing all this, I played with it a little more and then put it away; I wouldn't be using it for several months. I brought it out again last week as we were off camping and I was excited to put my new equipment to the test.
So, now I know what the problem is. I have to send it back (sigh), get the right one which will take time (sigh again), and hope it didn't fry the electronics in my Zfc body (biggest sigh yet). I may not get to use the flash at all for the rest of the summer. Hopefully, I can get a return even though it has been several months.
Thanks for reading.
