Was Amazon's mistake a disaster or an unexpected bonus?
Kathryn opening her Christmas present, a pair of dachshund socks. LOL. |
We love dauxies. We have had the squat diminutive hounds for about 25 years now and have grown very attached to them. So much so that about half of my wife's clothing sports dachshund images (notice the coat she is wearing on the right). She particularly likes wiener dogs on her socks, and so I made it my job to find a nice pair for her for Christmas.
Now, you just can't go to any clothing store in the neighbourhood to pick a pair of them up. So, I did what I have often done before when looking for something hard to come by, I went on-line. And the first place to look was Amazon.
I found the perfect socks for her. You can see them below. Dachshund socks, with the apt phrase, "I can't get up right now, the dog is on my lap." This is particularly hilarious because it has become a family saying, especially when something needs doing. When there were four of us and three dogs, it was the odd one out that the chore fell to. Guess who that was most often?
Anyway, Kathryn opened up her gift to find that it was fishing socks, not the dachshund ones that were present. And I bought two pair, and they were both the same. Someone clearly had no idea what they were doing. I can easily tell the difference between a fishing lure and a dog, not that the kind of lure or dog makes any difference. If the lure was a dog, that could be understandable, but someone just didn't care.
Or, maybe it was me. Maybe I should have checked them out before wrapping them for a surprise. Well, it was a surprise all right - for the both of us. The good thing though was that it was fodder for all kinds of silliness. We both got a good laugh out of it and the wisecracks were flying like the fish you see on the Discovery channel. Another good thing is that I can return them.
And so, in another few weeks, my wife should be opening a new package with her beloved dachshund socks, a new surprise for her. Of course, maybe there will be horses or flamingos, or even elephants on them. That would be a surprise.
Thanks for reading.
